Program History

Missouri’s Comparative Medicine Program (CMP) is one of the oldest, largest, and most respected laboratory animal medicine residency / comparative medicine research training programs in the country. The program has received NIH funding support for over 30 years. Since the inception of the CMP, over 120 individuals have completed residency training, 91 are board certified by the ACLAM and several intend to sit for boards in the future. The University of Missouri’s CMP has trained approximately 8% of the 800 active ACLAM diplomates in the country. Graduates of this program have pursued successful careers in in academia, government, and industry.
